Oil on canvasI found this bowl in a thrift shop and was determined to find a role for it in one of my paintings, so I added some trusty apples.
How does it look?

Thanks for looking and commenting.
Yes, it’s similar. I had to try to squeeze one more painting out of those apples.
Regarding painting from life – I switched from painting from photos a couple of years ago and could never go back.
You see so much more when painting from life and the longer you look the more you see.
It always amazes me how different an object looks when I’ve worked for several hours than it did when I began.I only regret not drinking more champagne -

Actually the bowl with the inner nuances is perfect.
I really like the green apple in the foreground as well as the shadows.Alexandre George
Just an amateur artist trying to learn the noble art!June 14, 2018 at 4:28 pm #636984Nothing bothers me about this painting, except, maybe I would make the BG wall a little lighter, but just around the top of the bowl mind you, and not in that wonderful shadow. I’d fill out the contour of the right side’s (of painting) apple too. And also where is your signature? Damn it we must have a signature!!!
June 14, 2018 at 6:11 pm #636981Thank you Ale and prt for looking and commenting.
Ale – that apple you noticed was an afterthought. Originally I just had the two near the bowl and something was missing. So I took the green apple next to the red one, changed its orientation, and painted it in.
Ptr – I made that background lighter this AM and I like it a lot more.
