I like the drama and mood in your latest one, Piratess!
Steve, that's a lovely view, quiet and serene!

Re: Different Strokes - A Forum Project for March 2017

Yes Piratess, 1st April challenge is ready to go but I'm still enjoying seeing the results of this one! Mayfly, you certainly made us learn, work hard and wonder this month! Thank you.
Talisman: You achieved remarkable detail of those blossoms with a big brush!
Konfuzd: I like the two toned drama of your crazy daisy, the bright, orangey tones against that murky, swirly background.
Maryinasia: Beautifully oriental in black, white and grey; I like the moving skies and the textured appearance of your foliage.
KreativeK: Your luminous pinks glow in each element. Diaphanaous. (I'd love a lamp like this!)
Holly: Well, what a clever idea! Those ladies sustain the blue tones and both emerge from and blend with the background.
JTMathis: I agree, this was a tough project for me also! The big brush got me. There is so much joy in your gentle daffodils smiling in the sunshine.
Piratess: Your streetlamp with the rosy glow in the mist is the scene for a great story. very atmospheric.Your small plant is lighting up that corner. The subtle background is a good contrast to the plant itself and I like the colours you have blended.
Old Hobbyist: Your poor lonely man; I want to join him and cheer him up! He has the blues in both mood and colouring. I particularly admire your icy tones (storing your colour ideas here in my head!) The blue/brownish tones of the waterside and forest blend so well. An emotive scene.
Mayfly: I'll bet you enjoyed that herbaceous border! It certainly zings! Your two giant bushes shimmer. The darker tones of the left one give variety.
Your latest with the lovely, blue sky reflecting in the stream compares well with the trees, thick and rustling with spring leaves. I like the way the flowers colour match in a treetop, drawing the eye to the distance.
ColinS.: Or is it Cezanne? Rich colours linked by the darkening sky and blue tones. I sat back and enjoyed the glowing tree trunks.
John: A magical scene which reminds me of Samuel Palmer who founded an art school near me. I love the sunray highlighting the blossom. Beautiful.
Lavenderfrost: I think we were both daunted by the big brush but you have achieved such tranquillity in your first picture and it feels like one of those bleak, 'just after winter, ice melting but not quite Spring' days. Great mood. Your second shows such a difference with the twiggy bushes waiting to burst out and say "Spring has sprung!" I like the anticipation here.
hp2: So glad you were able to upload! Your 'reeds in a ditch' is a great example of tonalism and makes a very striking picture.
Grampy: A majestic and dramatic scene. The contrast between the water and those magical hills, the light and dark elements, make it as the beginning of the world!
Thank you Mayfly. I trust everyone has brushes poised for next month's challenge. It will be a very hard one for me but easy for the rest of you I think!

More new ones!
Piratess love the still life, nice background very subtle. Wonderful light effects on the branches.
Grampy -Steve lovely scene with fantastic atmosphere. The brush stokes on the water give a great sense of movement.
