I’m not sure how many of you use a hairdryer when you paint. Invariably, I knock over my brush holders or worry about getting electrocuted because of the stupid cord dipping in my water jar.
Finally, a couple of companies have a cordless battery powered hairdryer at a reasonable price it seems. If you google cordless hair or blowdryers you can check them out.Website: www.artderek.com

But then, it might be different if I worked on a table …

April 2, 2018 at 9:58 am #596491Hi Cliff: I work on an easel and a table…..back and forth. Lots of opprtunities for the cord to knock things over.

https://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1431363April 2, 2018 at 1:25 pm #596495Derek, do you mainly use the dryer to reduce the time between glazes? Thanks,
Gary"Painting is a verb"
April 2, 2018 at 2:19 pm #596492Here is an example Gary: when I paint the side of a barn or house (usually a large flat area) and I then want to paint in the spaces between clapboard, I will dry the whole area so I can get to it, and any weathering I want to include. Yes, I also use for glazes.
I might also do a distant tree line with soft foliage, dry the area and then work into it with more trees, branches, etc.
For weathering, stonework, various textures I work into a wet area of slow dry medium (A couch) so that the edges will blend in.Website: www.artderek.com

That was a long time ago. I don’t need one anymore for oils and pastel…but for my occasional acrylic, I do use the dryer.
The cordless one sounds good Derek… be careful!

It took 4 D cells. Holding it longer than a few minutes wore me out. Don’t use anything now – 85F at the easel right now.
