Decided to make my own panel for the first time instead of buying expensive pre-gessoed ones. Read some things on the forums about MDF (so far working great) I am still layering Gesso on the panel because I want a very smooth finish so I will be sanding …the problem is, I forgot to tape the edges before I started priming/Gessoing (grrrr…how many times have I watched people do this ??!!?!)
1. any recommendations on evening up the edges now that they are all drippy?
2. any recommendations on sandpaper grit to start and work up to? (or links to posts pls I am sure there are many)
3. any suggestions for keeping edges and corners square?
Panel is 48″ x 60″ x ¾” MDF sealed with 2 coats killz latex (water based) & I have applied 5 layers of Gesso so far–will do another 2.
Many thanks!
