        It isn’t until the end that they mention that there are other possibilities, but the research on this one painting indicates his use of a rare lead compound, plumbonacrite.

            Interesting, but not extremely surprising, his White was already Lead anyhow, so adding more lead to his painting process probably was not a huge issue. He also used egg and chalk in his works as well, among a few other things.

                I know about the study that suggested he used egg yolk to make the paint more impasto like, but not this one.. interesting.

                    No wonder so many old masters died young or went a little crazy. Playing around with all of those lead based chemicals not to mention the solvents.
