Badly drawn. The forms and perspective are warped.
Why am I even posting this?
Because I spent a lot of time with it.
I got a skull in the mail to do my next still life from.
This was done from a metal bowl, styrofoam cup, iPhone box, and a foam, unpainted, snowman blank I got for cheap.
I was trying to learn how to render forms to make them sit in space correctly and learn values.
I learned all that’s for naught if the initial shape contours/ perspective is off.
Next time imma really take my time and get it perfect with the skull.
OMG! The file size and format restrictions are crazy.
Oops, edited to add:
Pencil on crap strathmore 300.
The future skull will be on some good stuff:)January 3, 2019 at 2:10 pm #756177Here’s a lower quality more complete pic.
January 4, 2019 at 11:24 pm #756176I think you are a bit hard on yourself, it is nicely done. I look forward to seeing the skull.
January 4, 2019 at 11:46 pm #756175That’s a beautiful still life drawing, you’ve nailed the perspective and the values are pretty good.

I learned that taking my time with every stage is crucial.
Next one I’m gonna go slow with the block in of the initial form contours AND the shadow shapes.
And then SLOWLY build up my values, keeping them uniform at every stage.
At least that’s what I’ve read to do and it makes sense.
Hopefully the next one (skull!) will be right.
This one has enough inconsistencies perspective wise that it doesn’t click overall, just in isolated places like the snowman.
The metal bowl looks like I hit it with a hammer, but I tried matching the cast shadow and I think that helped.
Thanks again for looking and the kind words.January 6, 2019 at 8:44 am #756174Well done.
You handle your materials well.I only regret not drinking more champagne -

You handle your materials well.Thank you sir.
I erased and drew the crap out of that paper, destroying much of it. But now I’m doing another drawing on a piece of Stonehenge aqua hot press 140lb and I hope it goes better this time.Frankly I’m a little frightened about the prospect of drawing on this stuff.
I am drawing lightly and erasing lightly also but I am starting to see the paper fuzz up ever so slightly in those places I think, maybe it my imagination. Thanks again:)
