Use to denote nudity/mature subject matter Dream Weaver Whale Play

I’m trying my hand at doing some smaller, less commitment-heavy work. I feel like I’m a bit stuck the last little while, and I want to open something up. “Dream Weaver Whale Play 8”x10” pencil & graphite powder is the first of a set of related pieces I want to do, all the same size. C&C welcome

Nice use of graphite to make mettalic gleam. Nice composition, too

Re: Dream Weaver Whale Play

Thanks Attalus I’m working on letting the sweep of graphite & eraser determine the composition, letting it form organically. I really appreciate your positive comment on the end result

Another lovely fluid work. Fantastic!
I think with the smaller scale you'll be able to experiment more, a bit more freedom.

Re: Dream Weaver Whale Play

Thanks for that Virginia. I want to develop the flow, and make sure it drives these little ones.

Excellent point Dianna Here’s a sketchbook piece I did a couple of days ago that is actually more where I want to spend creative time. Let’s see if I can shake loose a bit with these small pieces

Re: Dream Weaver Whale Play

This is the second drawing of the set. I decided I should do them two by two. I'm hoping the pairs look related if I use that approach.

Re: Dream Weaver Whale Play

Thanks Virginia. After Christmas I'll do the next pair, aiming to be a bit more fluid and less figure-focussed. I want to eventually figure out just how Dream Weavers and Light Weavers actually manifest in a drawing. These are baby steps along the way

Re: Dream Weaver Whale Play

Thanks Anthony

I plan on doing a set of 4 for now, and maybe more after some deliberation. Here is the 3rd one. Still 8" x 10" pencil & graphite powder.

Re: Dream Weaver Whale Play

Lovely set.
They are all interesting in their own ways.
Just curious about the graphite, so how do you apply it to get the "sweep"?

Re: Dream Weaver Whale Play

Thanks Dianna. Re the graphite - I generally start applying it with a small make-up pad and Q-tips. I switch back and forth with an assortment of erasers, pencils, graphite sticks and powder, and paint brushes. I turn the drawing around while I work, and occasionally look at it in a mirror to check the balance and flow.
