Re: P.A.L. (Paint-a-Long), April ..... Landscape

Cyn - this thread will stay open so paint at your own speed ... but don't forget to post the end result

As for the next PAL - it won't start until next week sometime - I'll be away for a few days with limited access - not just to comp, but to painting materials ...... so I'll start it when I return. (Of course, if the weather is bad, that could be earlier!!!)

That sounds good, I'm having computer problems so I won't be on much for the next week or so.

Re: P.A.L. (Paint-a-Long), April ..... Landscape

Hello guys! I've been avoiding this part of the world for the past couple of weeks, the painting has been such a nightmare - I couldn't find the energy to get on with it and it just sat there taunting me!

I'm so glad to see the thread's still going, how it has grown! So much great work, there's alot to be learned just looking at how each one of you has tackled the project.

Here's where I'm leaving mine, the colours are slightly off from real life and it's a little blurred in parts but all in all pretty close to the actual painting:

I tried to tone down the hills in the background but ended up darkening them, and the little hill to the foreground right is annoyingly flat. A great learning experience though - I probably would never have tackled this without the PAL (it's actually my first landscape painting) - thanks everyone!

Bravo Tina, that's a very creditable painting, esp. for a first landscape, well done!
It definitely wasn't the easiest of refs. to follow.

Nice work Tina. The dark hills give that look like when the clouds cast shadows in some places and other places are sunny.

That's really great Tina.

I love how you handled the vines and foreground especially.

Tina, I love your painting! It's so lively and alive! You have a good way to make that happen, it looks so free and immediate, keep up the good work!
