Re: Round the Campfire ~May~

Evening everyone.

Hi Deb. Hooray for naps! Thanks for the kind words. I still haven't heard more, so time will tell.

Hi Donna. Ahh, cheaters. At least they caught it before it was unfairly decided. Thanks much!

Re: Round the Campfire ~May~

Hi everyone!

For any of you noticing missing threads or posts, it's not just you. WetCanvas had a bit of an issue yesterday and many of the posts and threads made at that time have gone missing. I think we'll be able to restore them yet though.

Hi Scatdaddy, Donna, Rick, and Catherine. Not too much is new here...we've gotten so much rain, and many farmers are fearing they won't be able to plant corn, at least not as much as they'd like. It's just too greasy in the fields to plant. It's heavy on our minds. If only all this rain (roughly 8 inches this month alone ) would go where it's needed...

I'd better keep working on my horse sculpture. Have a great Friday everyone! Enjoy the last of May.

Re: Round the Campfire ~May~

Unbelievable Jenna - last year all the corn died for lack of rain, and this year they can't plant because it's too wet.
Donna - will vote when I sign off here. good luck!
Enjoy the weekend!

Hi Linda. Yes, it's been a trying couple of years... Poor Dad is just about losing it. It's tough for him and all the farmers.

Re: Round the Campfire ~May~

My wife and I spent a rewarding day today volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. We went into storm damaged neighborhoods in Moore, OK, and helped families salvage and remove their shattered homes and belongings. The photos do not do justice to what its like at ground zero - the twisted rubble under foot, the terrible smells, the look in the eye of people who have lost a lifetime of mementos. Very emotional day.

I found this flag early in the day and fastened it on this destroyed tree. Here's my lovely lady and I right after we raised the flag.

Notice the books still on the shelf and clothes hanging on rods in what's left of the closet. Many amazing sights like this.

Re: Round the Campfire ~May~

Hi Larry. It must have been a very emotional and busy day for you and your wife. The photos speak volumes, and I imagine it doesn't begin to capture the scope of the mess. I just heard that area has been hit badly again. I hope you and yours are safe. Prayers and thoughts to everyone who has been impacted by this nasty double hit. That's so tough. Makes our rain problem seem pretty small, that's for sure.

Hi Donna. Thanks for the kind words.

Hello to everyone else hangin' 'round our Campfire.

Larry, unbelievable destruction. Many lives have been changed forever. Been watching the weather channel tonight as that area got hit again. Thanks for what you and your wife are doing. Be safe.

Larry, those pictures are mind-boggling. I've been through many an earthquake and never seen anything like that. I love what Toby Keith had to say: "Rise again, Moore Oklahoma..."
