Sturgeon Bay waterfront

These are just some of the tugboats moored along the Sturgeon Bay waterfront. This painting is done in oil on linen and is 24x36" I tried to catch them in some of their best light.

Re: Sturgeon Bay waterfront

A cracking piece of work full of detail which puts the viewer right on the waterfront. A gritty subject but softened by the clever use of the warm atmosphere overall.
Thanks for sharing.

Re: Sturgeon Bay waterfront

Great piece, my mother grew up in Sturgeon Bay in the 30's and 40's. My Grandmother did many watercolors of the area and I remember playing on the tugboats when I was very small. Well done!

Re: Sturgeon Bay waterfront

This is absolutely super harbor scene, one of the best I've seen! The mass of boats with their dark hulls and white cabins and light striking on them.. so well done. Love it!

Re: Sturgeon Bay waterfront

Thanks Dave. I have a soft spot for tugboats also. Painted a mess of them and I'm sure I'll do many more.
