Use to denote nudity/mature subject matter The story is better than the drawing

This is the story!
The organizer of our LD group texted me the day before to ask if I was planning to go because he had been talking to the booked model who said that she would probably be late.
He wondered if I would model until she arrived. I said that I would.
Starting time arrived and no model (expected). But there was also no organizer (not expected).
I explained what had happened, another guy took over the time keeping, and the session began.
I modelled for about 20 minutes until the model arrived and she took over.
The next strange thing was that she wore a 1 piece swimming costume.
I've never seen that at life drawing before, except for one particular male model who always wears black underpants.
We had this model a few weeks ago and she posed nude then.
(she was also late on that occasion. Thanks to our "wonderful" public transport system and it's timetable - not her fault - same issue last night)
During the break she said that the organizer had told her that he wasn't going to be there. But it seems that he hadn't told anybody else!
I don't think she was 100% well because she had problems holding poses and said that she had pins and needles in her feet which didn't seem to go away.

I had fewer poses than usual to work from, and managed to wreck two of the three drawings which I did manage to do.
At one stage I was getting really frustrated because I couldn't manage to erase some lines and the realized that they were part of a drawing on the other side of the paper!

This is the drawing.
Don't comment on the feet! I really should have cropped them out!

Jonathan.

Re: The story is better than the drawing

Hi Jonathan, the drawing is certainly more interesting to me. The shapes in here are a great improvement. And I think you got a good perspective, not too foreshortened, not too flat. That makes this interesting.

Re: The story is better than the drawing

"life" can certainly be distracting from the drawing of "life"! Ha!
This is a fine attempt to get the body looking intact in the picture frame. Maybe some perspective light lines to align the shoulders, chest, hips?
(from a practical point- did she get the same fee for "semi-draped" as "draped"?)

Well Jonathan, considering all that went on you did so great here.
I totally agree with Kiran.

I agree with the others Jonathan, I think for structure and proportions it is one of your best. Please don't crop out the feet: the more practice the better.

Thanks for all the encouragement!
Bethany, I don't know whether she got the full fee or not.
But I do know that I didn't get a discount for modelling part of the time!

anything can happen at life drawing Jonathan... and sometimes does, but I think you did deserve a discount for filling in, and you still managed a good drawing!

What a good sport! and you got a nice drawing out of it. You could always work on the feet a bit - use your own feet even. Ooops - you asked us not to comment on the feet...

Hey, guys!
Thanks for all your encouraging comments!
I almost feel as if an ordinary session tomorrow night will be a bit of a letdown!
