I very much enjoy the simplicity of drawing, such a relaxing thing to do in the afternoon without the added thought of how to add colour! after a lot of drawing it was good to be able to then think about starting a large oil painting and using colour! Best wishes Caroline

I'M NOT AS THINK AS YOU DRUNK I AMDecember 29, 2019 at 6:56 am #924734Caroline….wonderful work. Yes sometimes I have to agree I like to just get out the pencils and create a land mass and/or flow of cloud formations and treelines. It is a fun exercise and so free flowing. ( just has that creative mood/feel to it)
Your work with both mediums here is super…. very nice and has such a nice spontaneous feel.

http://painterofthesouthwest.blogspot.com/December 29, 2019 at 3:10 pm #924731Two beautiful versions, Caroline. The second reminds me of Constable’s cloud paintings. I love the fg: it looks like there is a low-lying fog. The clouds are excellent. In the first, the pencil drawing makes them look quite ominous but very beautiful.

December 29, 2019 at 7:22 pm #924729Fine drawing and painting. I very much like to see the drawing then the painting from it. It’s the insight into the process.
December 30, 2019 at 8:03 am #924733Both are very nice. Great movement and freedom in the drawing and carried over to the painting. Reminds me of the art of Constable and Ruisdael, some of my favorites.

December 30, 2019 at 8:59 am #924730Caroline, lovely drawing and painting. How big is the drawing? I often do thumbnails but rarely larger drawings. I still work full time and feel like I have to paint whenever I have a free minute. I totally agree about the calm that drawing produces.
December 30, 2019 at 10:21 am #924724Wonderful use of drawing to create a beautiful painting. I wish I could say that I follow your good example.
You do great work on open expanses, which would seem a challenge to me.

December 30, 2019 at 10:54 am #924717I like how the clouds are really the subject of the painting, but they aren’t oppressive.
December 30, 2019 at 6:02 pm #924728I love your paintings Caroline and you have wonderful talent when it comes to drawing. Beautiful work!
