Palomino horse

I found a picture of this horse on Flickr I think, and loved the character and play of light and shadow. I decided to make the background abstract. I did this on pastel board with pastels and did not like it at first, but I am quite happy with the end result. C&C most welcome!

Esther, it's wonderful! You have brought him to life in a beautiful way. I love the abstract background. Well done!

He looks like he is caught in motion, which is really nice.
The abstract background fits very well and your color choice is beautiful.

It's hard to get expressions on animal faces, and you've done it beautifully; I also like the background. Great work.

Re: Palomino horse

There is a lot to like here Esther. I like that you did not cover the entire surface with pastel and how the lower edge of the horse breaks up. The background harmonizes quite nicely with the color of the horse. All in all, a very successful painting. Well done!

Oh, wow, Esther! That your horse is stunning goes without saying. But I think my favorite part of the painting may be the way you handled the background! Love it!
