Question how much $ per image?

I have a "small business" owner interested in buying my art to be made in to metal stamps for jewelry making. Right now they are pencil sketches but would need to be turned in to somewhat simplified ink pieces. I would like to "license" them for 6 months for a flat fee per image and then renegotiate at the end of six months. How much would you charge per image? Some of them I can so in seconds and some of them would be more like 30 minutes if that matters.....

I would negotiate a fixed fee for each. This could be the start of a good relationship with the firm.

How much should I ask? I am inexperienced..... and they are small right now. $40 a picture? I am just trying to get a ballpark figure and make sure I am getting what I deserve. Thank you.

Depends on the time it takes to create them. How much would the firm have to pay for a commissioned image?

I would say if you can knock these off in an hour $50 would be a fair price.

Re: how much $ per image?

well some of the images I will be able to complete in minutes..... probably the longest I would spend on some is 45 min. Would I charge differently based on that.... maybe $30 for simple ones and $40 for the others??? I'm not sure how much time I will be spending with the actual stamp manufacturer either, getting the images how they need them. Also, say at the end of the six months these stamps are selling like hot cakes would i negotiate for royalties?

Give the first batch a try then if the relationship develops you could renegotiate for the next batch. getting a regular customer is worth a loss leader.

The first time I ever licensed an image, it was to a small company that wanted to use a painting for all their business documents: cards, letterhead, logo, etc. I charged them $600 for an exclusive license for this particular use. This was in the mid 1990s.
