playing with offcuts from the edge of a larger painting – side strips cut to 5cm squares. I quite like the mini landscapes it created

They are offcuts from a stormy, rainy seascape that has waves crashing over a harbour wall. Turning some offcuts sideways suggested woods – but abstract and undefined.
I’ve done this with more colourful offcuts in the past and they make great cards!
The painting was an unfinished experiment with texture paste that I decided to work on in thin glazes of acrylic inks, keeping the colour very muted.
