Anyone know where I can buy real Venetian turpentine/balsam in the USA?

March 2, 2020 at 4:09 pm #955464Badin Treehouse. They are a subsidiary of Zecchi Art Supply Company in Florence, Italy. I used to buy my Pure Larch Tree Venice Turpentine from them, until I switched to Canada Balsam as my resin. It is the real “stuff”, and is quite excellent.
You can purchase it in bulk, and divide it up into smaller jars for future use.
James and Jodi Wahab (pronounced like Ahab, in Moby Dick), are the proprietors. One thing to be aware of is that their primary business is a Cafe’, so when they answer the phone you’ll think you have the wrong number, until you insist upon talking to someone who is the proprietor of the ART SUPPLY business. It’s located in North Carolina.

You might try the link above, as it links directly to their ART SUPPLY business.
On second thought, THIS link should get you to what you want easier:

It’s good Larch Tree Venice Turpentine, if you’re able to locate this place. The “real stuff” should NOT smell like Pure Gum Spirits of Turpentine (the solvent). It is NOT a solvent–it is thick like molasses, and it has a very pleasant, “fruity” smell. The imitation stuff is generally chunks of rosin, dissolved in Turpentine (the solvent), hence the smell. Get the real stuff.:)

March 2, 2020 at 9:47 pm #955466I wonder why you want Larch Turpentine? What ever you use it for, use it sparingly. It has poor film strength, and will yellow over time. It does smell good though.
