Painted for a client in February from his photograph. 2 of only 518 living Whooping Cranes in the world. These nest near Kinkaid Lake in Southern Illinois.

A little 8×10 oil on panel. Titled “Local Pair.”

Nice use of strong value contrasts. Wonderful repeating shapes with the birds.

Agree about the tags. Adding color accents here make the tags the focal point.

Being born places you at a greater risk of dying later in life.

Thanks all. My client specifically asked me to leave the tags on. He said it was part of who they were. /shrug. I would of left them off myself but gotta please the buyer! 😀

Lovely painting. I think the tags help with their story. I saw the tags and thought they must be rare, then read your comment. Nicely painted.

Wonderful contrasts, realistic foliage, and of course birds. I like the tags more than I dislike them for multiple reasons. Im sure the client is very satisfied.
