Coming along nicely! Good luck, never easy to do children without them looking older. I think Your grid lines have improved the position of eyes etc immensely. Take care and don't rush. Can't wait to see it progress. Cheers. Debs. =))

further work to the face and a very light blue wash background. struggling with the cheeks,there's quite a lot of different tones in the child's skin so i find it difficult to choose which colours, so far i've used van dyke brown, orange chrome, naples yellow, crimson alizarin, burnt sienna and yellow ochre. it's different when i look at the computer screen and then look at the printed photo version, i've gone by the photo version as the colours look a bit darker or perhaps i should stop making a fuss and do what i think is best. not a decision i take lightly.

been quite some time since i've been on here. been rather busy as of late and also sidetracked on this one, although i have managed to progress further. it's been really difficult to do this one, the skin tones seem to change frequently and the hair looks quite difficult to do without the edges turning green. i will still give it my best shot though.

haven't been on here for ages. been kinda busy with non art stuff. but anyway i finally got back on track and managed to complete this portrait. come along way since the previous image posted.

hope you like it. i bought a book of Diego Velazquez(amazing painter) that showed me what tones he used for skin, backgrounds, clothing,etc. once i darkened the background, all the mistakes came creeping out the woodwork. at first i kept the paint thin but realised this wasn't needed so i added thicker layers and i felt the painting come to life.
