Basket of oranges on a beach towel

Painted from life, light from window, overcast day
12” x 16”, oils on panel
Set up this still life with a funky colored beach towel draped over a box. tried to go fast, one afternoon, Alla prima.
Ultramarine deep, primary blue (Phalo / white mix) yellow ochre, Cad yellow, light, Cad orange, Pyrrole red. Walnut oil.
Paint got greasy near the end, hence the glossy brush marks. Probably coat with matte Gamvar when dry.
Comments welcome.

Nice composition and colour. A good example of unequal space division.

I like the design. Your control of colors and paint are great to my taste. I appreciate that you posted the palette information. Gary

Beautiful colours in the towel Patrick - a very vibrant Still Life!

Kiffin, Gary, Trudi,
Thank you for commenting
Kiffin, I try to avoid arranging still lifes with objects lined up on an even plane, seems contrived that way.
Gary, I too appreciate when the paint colors are listed. I think, from a painters perspective, it adds understanding.
Trudi, the towel was difficult and there is a big fish on it that I painted out as it was distracting.

A dynamic set up for sure that resonates with your choice of color palette. Love this!
