Forest spirit

Not sure if this is the first time I'm posting in this forum. The end of Inktober is here and I did this as an accumulation of the skills I've gotten better at.

C&C welcome as always

I like landscapes. And I like your drawing. I am not sure about the perspective of that valley/river? It confuses me. Maybe these are little "tree islands" but I am not sure. Maybe with a bit more depth/shadow it would become clearer what you would like to show. But still, I like it. I am not good with landscapes. Thanks for showing.

Re: Forest spirit

Very nice pen work. Some of it is a little confusing. After looking at it for a bit I see possibly floating islands but for some reason the one at the back is coming forward. But I can't figure out why it looks that way.

Re: Forest spirit

It looks cool and different.
I think it looks like deep valleys between the tree areas.
I'm glad you posted it here come back again!

Re: Forest spirit

Thank you for the comments. I don't think the photograph captured the darkness of the valleys well enough. I think the floating island on the right comes from the flat upper portion being a darker shade than the verticals causing it to pull forward maybe? I really don't have the range of shades in tombow markers than I would like. Maybe it's time to invest in copics?

Re: Forest spirit

I can recommend the Winsor and Newton Brush- and Promarkers. Very good quality and much cheaper than copics. I love them

Re: Forest spirit

You have created quite an illusion in this, you can look at it in different ways.

Re: Forest spirit

CDeathhound, The W&N aren't refillable though right? How long do they last you?

Thank you Michelle. I don't know if this sounds weird but I normally don't like to force my story into my art. I like to leave it open to the viewer to decide what they are seeing. I don't know if that comes across as a cop out or not. I have a friend who insists he's been to each of the places that I've done landscapes of when the vast majority came out of my imagination.

Re: Forest spirit

I'd say that's quite a compliment then!

I like your style and I see deep valleys as well. It's very ethereal yet solid.

Cannot tell. Venom ist my first marker drawing but I am sure they will last a while before I need to replace them. Depends also on the paper which you use. Normal drawing paper will suck more of the paint then marker paper. But marker paper is worse for drawing with graphite and coloured pencils. But I didn´t heard any complaints about this brand so that is why I bought them. Also... if you come to the decision that this is your medium... you can choose any time to buy your favorite and most used colour from copic. Both brands work fine together.

Hope this helps

Ah, Okay. I like your Venom by the way. It really came together.
