Hello from UK

Thanks for letting me join, I see there is a lot of inspiration on here and that is to be applauded.
I am a returning artist now in my later years.
When at school it was always my intention to go to Art College, but at the time (1970) here in the UK there was a big downturn, three day weeks, power-cuts, etc. and my friends at the college were really concerned there was no work for them, this worried me so instead I embarked on an engineering career.
I continued with my art as a hobby and even won some competitions that my employer held. I also started signwriting to earn a little cash on the side. Anyway, my work soon took over and when my daughter was born I stopped painting and concentrated on furthering my career in engineering and supporting my family.
Roll on 40 years and I became poorly with a condition Avascular Necrosis AVN which has disabled me. It took me ages to pick up my brushes again, but with the help of everyone around me, I have now been painting artwork for just over a year. I have my first exhibition in two weeks' time.
I paint mainly landscapes using Acrylics, I also enjoy aspects of surrealism.
My signwriting has become a bit specialised in classic vehicles, Land-Rovers.
I thought it was time for me to get involved with WC.

Hi Arne, welcome to wetcanvas.

This is a terrific community and a wonderful resource, use the rolling menu bottom right and you will find forums for just about every art and craft medium here, it's worth exploring the full list of the forums. Read the posting rules at the top of the forums there may be restricted posting.

The links in the top line of my signature will help with the forum and how to resize and post your pictures. You can start uploading pictures on your third post.

A frequent question is "Where are my files?" When you get the uploader box and browse for your photos, make sure you select "All files" or you will not see your jpg files.

If you have a particular site problem, click on my name and send me a private message (pm).

Re: Hello from UK

Thank you for your welcome messages and kind words.
I have spent some time looking around and am impressed with the high standard of artwork posted. As I paint in Acrylics I guess that is where I will start my next topic.
