My first comission.

So i had to take a bit of an break from painting, had some family issues and water damage in my house too .

But on the bright side, my coworker asked me if i could paint his dog whom he had to put to sleep because of paralysed legs. I love dogs and was honored to help his dog stay with him.

I asked for a couple of pictures and luckily he had some good ones. His dog was black and gray, but i think i saw thousands of colors and wanted to make the painting more about the soul of a dog than copy a photograph.

Had to draw a couple of sketches with pastel pencils, first didnt look like a dog and the size wasnt right for a portrait.

For some reason i started with pastel pencils, almost all green colors. Then filled with blues and greys and other colors with rembrandt pastels. Finally used some of my senneliers mainly by rubbing them on my fingers

Turned out ok, much better than my earlier works on my own dogs. Coworker hasnt yet seen the painting except couple of WIP pictures. Thumbs up he will like it....

Sorry for the lens glares, cant really see the painting

Re: My first comission.

Absolutely beautiful. I just finished my first commission also but he wanted what he wanted and the colors he chose. Much harder than painting from the heart. I actually like it so all is good.

I like how those blues on the dog look against the background.

Thank you all for you encouraging comments ! The buyer loved the picture, it was supposed to go to his ex-girlfriend but he decided to keep the painting. I also got some people asking if i could do their dogs too
