Re: New to site--Hello!

Latest sculpture.

Hope the powers that be donít mind a little constructive feedback. In order to paste a pic here requires me to only use Chrome for the browser, a second app to reduce the size of my image to conform to this websites limits, and then upload new image to here. On IG and FB it is automatic which makes me spend less time on this website comparatively. Hope to see a massive update bc I think this site is great, but I donít interact here as much bc of the amount of work it requires.

There is no other place quite like this. Deviantart has become a place for 12 y/o kids addicted to hentai, so you have something special here. A real community of artist from all walks of life. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the seahorse!!!! On the uploading pics thing - I use Firefox, and things upload just fine. Yes, you have to resize it in a different program and it would be nice if this site was as sophisticated as FB, but I prefer seeing it with minimal advertising. Facebook's ads are very intrusive and make me angry enough to get off the site a lot of times. I have more patience with WC.

Re: New to site--Hello!

Thanks so much Jon and Lynda!

Apparently, a woman came in to the gallery and fell in love with it. Went home to measure space for it, but didnít come back. The next day another customer comes in and buys it on the spot. Original woman comes back the day after to purchase it. Oops! Luckily, she wasnít too terribly upset, but did commission me to build her a new one.

Re: New to site--Hello!

Yours truly, along with that second (commissioned) seahorse. This one used a part of a clock that has an inscription that says ďJune 19, 1893. New York City.Ē

So...does that make this sculpture an antique?

Re: New to site--Hello!

Nope. It's a new sculpture that used an antique part. Cute seahorse!

Love the elegant mallard! Even have a touch of coloring in the head and the feet. How'd you do that - the purple and green coloring? Hot or cold patina? Will your pieces last outdoors or oxidize? What's on the inside of the mallard's body?

I love your work and can see why you are having so much success!

Re: New to site--Hello!

Thank you Sculpturedolls. To answer the questions, the insides of all of my sculptures come from found objects. The Mallard used a small cylinder from an RC airplane along with several other parts and widgets Iíve collected. The color of the head was obtained by using a specialized metallic paint that changes color depending on the angle. These sculptures can survive outdoors and some will oxidize over time and some will not due to being sealed.

Re: New to site--Hello!

Wow! All your junk art looks awesome! Is there some meaning behind any of them or are they exclusively for the sake of aesthetics?

Congratulations for how well it has gone with your art !

Re: New to site--Hello!

Thanks so much Gerardo. Great question btw. It depends on the sculpture. Some have no meaning, and are just for aesthetics. (A client commissioned me recently to build him a duck for example.). Others come from some place of imagination based on the found object. For example I had come across an intake manifold that appeared to be from a car in a junk yard. Upon closer examination I found a Chrysler logo stamped on it. Based on its oblong shape I decided to turn it into a Barracuda, based on Chrysler/Plymouthís famous muscle car of the same name. Below is another example. I found a brass candle holder and it looked like a crab to me, so after some modifications...
