The book is going to be reprinted. I was so happy to hear about it that I have to share this information.

Re: The watercolours of Edward Wesson
That's good news for Wesson fans!
I would love to see Alexander Gallery Publications re-print "My Corner of the Field", Ted's Autobiography, published a year before his death in 1983. Used copies are expensive ($420 - $625).
Apart from Ron Ranson's "The Art of Edward Wesson" which was published by David and Charles all other books on Ted Wesson ("The Master's Choice", "The Watercolours of Edward Wesson" both by Steve Hall and Barry Miles, "Edward Wesson 1910 - 1983" by Barry Miles, and "Honesty in Art" by Peter Slade) were published by Halsgrove.
The only other source of information about Ted Wesson are the articles he wrote for the English art magazines "The Artist" (18 articles) and "Leisure Painter (14 articles). They are very informative articles, difficult to find and the publishers of the two magazines in question have no interest in publishing them in book form. They are also unable to tell me the issue date in which Ted's articles appeared. Neither can the British Museum or The Victoria and Albert Art Library. It is now up to me to find them and that's needle and haystack territory!
Cheers
Tred

Re: The watercolours of Edward Wesson
Good news alright and a great addition to the reference library but for me, at over €60,it won't be coming here any day soon. That would buy me a lot of paper, paints and/or brushes.

Re: The watercolours of Edward Wesson
Hello Larry,
it's 'only' € 50 - don't know if that makes it easier - but over 60 US Dollars. But of course you are right. Art books in general are quite expensive. However, I bet I can't resist when it's time. For me, it's a 'must-have'.
Thanks for the information, Tred. Quite interesting to read. Concernig the articles: Would it be an option to send Steve Hall an email? He seems to know a lot about Edward Wesson.

Re: The watercolours of Edward Wesson
Christian,
Steve was the first person I contacted and he has also been on to the editor of the two magazines regarding the re-printing of the articles to no avail.
They do not consider it a viable proposition. Halsgrove has re-printed "The Watercolours of Edward Wesson" so they must consider that sales will be worth the re-print. Perhaps the fact that Elizabeth Wesson, and not the magazine's, hold the copyright to all of Ted's articles may be a reason but if someone like Steve Hall took the project under his wing I'm sure that Elizabeth Wesson would grant permission. The two magazines claim that they do not know which issues the articles appeared in but Ted didn't start writing for "The Artist" until the late 50's until 1970 and "Leisure Painter" from 1970 to his demise in 1983. One would have thought that both magazines would have a data base of their product?
The phrase "Dogs in a Manger" springs to mind.
Cheers

Re: The watercolours of Edward Wesson
You are right Christian.I saw the Euro and 62 and I jumped to conclusions. But I suppose if I was in for 50 I'd might as well plunge for 60 !!!

Re: The watercolours of Edward Wesson
personaly I dont think the editors like the loose style ,they seem to have down on it and never publish much of it,,probably no idea what loose painting is. I think they, are the old creative art set ,,I stopped my subscription to them last year ,they need a new editor prefferably one whose an artist,or who can paint.(sorry creative arts artists I dont mean you)
