Re: Dangerous Life in London

Hey, naturally the first one is my favorite, it is just so centered and fully rendered. Funny how a really good life drawing takes the viewer there. the white is definitely a radical step. I think the last one is the most successful because the thin application is an apt expression of the lightfall. A pleasure as usual.

Rob, The first one is beautiful, and i like the white aplications, think its a good study of where the light is falling.

Superb paintings/drawings Rob. My favourite is the one where her arm is in the air for the way the light moves down the body but there's loads of energy in all of them.

Re: Dangerous Life in London

Thanks all! I know the first few are a bit stark but I only allowed myself white and black and the paper. I then introduced another pale... then I tried one mixing a full spread of tones which you are not going to see as it's 'orrible to behold!

The first and last, mucho cool Am not too fond of the others, but I can see value in them as studies i.e. in getting the shapes and relationship of parts down disregarding the effect aspect.

So simple, so beautifully done, Rob! The first with that difficult head-tuck is so skillfully done- and the sure brush-strokes of the others- sans net!

WOW!
What a treat, Rob!
I like all of them -- all strong, and really well drawn!
That first one is charming and lovely; the rest have a different feel, and I like it a lot.
Be proud!

Re: Dangerous Life in London

Thanks again, I've done some thinking on these, so next time I will go with a premixed dilute white and black to supply some consistency in the mid tones. It is quite hard to judge what you have on the brush as we work in quite low light levels.
