Hi out there,
I haven´t posted for a long time – but recently and luckily – I got back to painting. That´s why I´m posting an oil pastel showing our Uncle Siegfried. This was one of my last paintings I did in 2008. It was a present for his 70th birthday. I did it based on a tiny photo taken in secret.
Hope you like itI wonder what I´m going to paint next and I´m sure to get a lot of inspiration here on wet canvas.
Greetings from Dresden – a wonderful part in the east of Germany.
April 22, 2018 at 1:03 pm #609044Welcome back, Littlebeech! A great likeness of your uncle! Well done. I had a look at your previous posting of this portrait and it would seem as if your photo of the portrait has far too much contrast?

The amount of layering and colors used here is impressive. Great job.

April 23, 2018 at 4:27 am #609042Good morning and thanks to your warm welcome :grouphug:
Christel – as I use a different laptop now somehow the screen shows colours in a different way. In those days I remember I had to experiment with the photos getting as near to the painting as possible. Maybe I´ve chosen the wrong one out of the many trials
To get back into painting again, regain the feeling for shading, light and contrast at the moment I´m doing some excercises with crayons (Faber Castel) in a colouring book (for adults :clear: ) Maybe not the best way to practice OPs but cheaper Hope it works. And then I will try to make an OP out of it.
Again – I´m glad to be back and will have a look through the forum to see what you all have done in the meantime.
See you ….
