I don’t usually do flowers. Just too difficult. Couldn’t resist the Rose though. This is a freehand sketch in Procreate. May come back to it to take it further. May not.

A high res version is available at:

If you are interested in the process I have posted a time lapse video on my Instagram account at:

Beautiful job on this Harry. You have all of the petals curving softly, just as they should. Love the way you captured the light and shadows.

            Thanks for participating.

You should do florals more often as you’ve just the right delicate touch; this is soooooo good, Harry!

This is so beautiful…..you can almost feel the soft creamy texture of the rose petals. Outstanding! Enjoyed watching the time lapse on Instagram too!

Nice work… I see you went with purple for the deepest red tones. I wondered how to do that with yellow. Tried using a gray (Fr. Ultramarine, Burnt Sienna), but it didn’t work. I thought about using New Gamboge over the Transparent Yellow (PY97), but then I just thought I’d redo it as a blue rose.

I haven’t heard of Procreate, but if you did this freehand it must be a very good app to have!

Harry that rose is perfect 👌 I hear you when you say about tackling flowers. However you approached this so wonderfully that you managed to even outshine the original photo which says it all.
                                    Big congrats my friend.
