Re: Crested Pigeon

haha had a good giggle Mary at your "flight" comment and am still smiling ☺☺
I was like you and still am as I now have to build up the courage to cut a full sheet in half and try a new bird drawing.... I keep thinking " what if I mess up and this stuff costs $21 a sheet" in Australia .... we have to buy at least 5 sheets and also theres $12 postage as there is only one stockist in this country !!! BUT then I have the stuff so its a wast just leaving it in a folder Lol
So keep us posted on how you go

Re: Crested Pigeon

Holy cow, Brissie! Your Pastelmat is definitely extra special. Your work, however, deserves it and you are right. If paper or any other art supply just sits, then it is wasted. Enjoy!

Several years ago I was able to get a mixed pack of Pastelmat (6 pieces about 8 x 10) and have 4 and 1/2 left. I pulled out the 1/2 sheet and have started on a pheasant head.

I've posted a few pheasant pieces in cp's and oil pastels. They are so attractive and I've enjoyed trying to create them, on 'regular' paper!

I'm a bit slow but hope to post (in a separate thread) in a week or two.

Mary Flora

Re: Crested Pigeon

I love workable fixative. I can brighten whites and darken dates after I apply it. But I have never used pastel mat, so I don’t know what it would do to bare paper if you’re not planning a background. The bird looks great!
