Plein Air on AMI

On the beach today people are sun bathing, taking strolls, collecting shells, dipping their toes in the water, making sand castles and more. And then there was this lady who I interrupted to tell her all about Wet Canvas. She was doing a water color painting of sand moguls and sea grass. It was so pretty.

A good photographer would have walked around to her other side and captured both the painting and the landsape she was painting. But I was the one with the camera and did not think about that until I got home and looked at the photos. And besides, I was so busy telling her what a wonderful community WC is, that I just wasn't thinking right.

She was delighted to learn about WC. She was so sweet and seemed interested when I told her that there are so many artistic channels that we have including water color. She was even more impressed when I told her that artists pictures of their creations so others can offer critiques and suggestions. And as she explained to me, you can always learn something new and improve. I told her that I was a member for many years and am moderator of the photography forums. It isn't something that I normally tell people. But as I wished her a good day, she said , "thanks for your volunteer work with the artistic web site. Boy, that made me feel so good. Just like all of you, I feel so much appreciation from all you say and do. It is time to thank you too.

On my way back, I caught her just before she started to pack up her paint and easel.

Lorell, what a lovely story and how good of you to let the artist know about WC. I was able to copy and blow the painting up to get a good look at it, it looks pretty nice to me.

Re: Plein Air on AMI

Thanks, Mark. She was such a nice lady. I have now told TWO people about WC since I have been on AMI. One was a photographer. I was actually thinking about making up a little card, business card size, so that when I run into people instead of talking their ear off as if I was selling something, I would hand them the card that sums it all up.

The painting did look very nice. There is a lot of art on this island, if I were a painter, I would be inspired by my surroundings.

I am trying to take photos of people. And I will keep trying thanks to encouraging words like yours .

Re: Plein Air on AMI

Lorell, using your 14-150mm, you should have no trouble getting good people shots - I used it a lot before I foolishly gave it to Tina after I bought the 40--150mm + 1.4x converter. Tina has never used the lens, nor her M5-Mkii., sadly she's just a hoarder of stuff.

I think that's a great idea, you could create the card on your puter and run a few off, you wouldn't need that many.

Today I sent off 3 "Show & Tell" img's to BCC. I'll PM them to you for optional comment..

Dear Lorell

That certainly is a great story and looks like a nice painting.

Let me also thank you for your hard work in moderating this part of WC. Without you to encourage us with your insightful feedback and interesting posts I think it would be a very different forum indeed!

Long may you moderate!

Peter

Enough. I do appreciate your kind words and that you are all generous with what you share of your photos and your hearts.

Do not feel embarrassed. It actually is barely enough.
Accept accolades.
We appreciate.
