Cafe Michaelangelo-October 2016

Hello, hello friends - I haven't been around wet much lately so thought I could at least start the thread...

Here are a couple things I did recently......The BeetFriends I did at the coffeehouse using the pochade box while carrying on a friendly conversation with friends.
The cat composite was drawn at my daughters one morning I was drawing from imagination and the cat decided to sit on top of the page so I drew him in........

Any suggestions for a monthly project?

Beautiful Robin. Especially the flowers.

Re: Cafe Michaelangelo-October 2016

Looks like everyone was too busy this month to post much here. I did get around to these two ACEOs:

Both acrylic on board, and in both the camera washed out the colors.

The cat could almost fit into the Nicholas Roerich thread... :-)

art journal page. Trying out gelli prints on deli paper for background colours.

A game of cards.

My first box of deli papers...works great on the gelli plate.

Never seen anything like gelli prints around here. Printing stuff is a bit difficult to get hold of in general.

Another ACEO in acrylic on board; this time I tried a somewhat more painterly approach instead of my usual heavy outlines. Can't quite decide if it worked or not...

Re: Cafe Michaelangelo-October 2016

busy is right….squeezing in little bits of art……

Nice orchard Brian, the cat really looks happy…….does it pose for you? I like the reflected moonlight on the wall top……….I think the purpleish helped some ..but moonlight is kinda special….I adore the pug…..a rousing success if you ask me. nice strawberry……your spring is in full tilt then…..

June - nice fun page….what is deli paper? is it what we call freezor paper with a shiny (plastic?) coating on one side? or parchment paper you use in baking? I just like the idea of experimenting with papers……. I bought a gelli plate a year ago and am planning on going to the annual art material expo again soon so I made a real effort to use the gelli plate and really like it……

Here is one from our trip out in the john boat this week. My husband drops me off at a little tiny beach, I set up and paint for a couple hours….time flies……..it was fun….not really sure about this one

My daughter asked me to bring henna to the granddaughter’s birthday party but it never was used……so I had a henna party this evening to use up the thawed paste. …….only got out in public 2 times this summer….
just didn’t have the desire……

I still hope to do something for our october project……..

It's that time of year; someone posted this on Facebook:

Jacarandas in bloom turning Johannesburg purple. Here in Pretoria it's pretty much the same. :-)

Nice henna work! I rather like the idea of non-permanent "tattoos."

Love the dog and strawberry Brian! The painterly approach works well.

Robin, the animal henna patterns are so yummy.

The deli paper is for wrapping sandwiches I think. I got it on Amazon...its not available in shops here. Its more delicate than greaseproof or baking paper; and not really like the wax coated paper at all.

Its wonderful for gelli printing.
