. Only one remark: with pencils there is a general tendency to stay too light. With P&I it is the opposite, it is difficult to keep nice mid tones. Pens with a finer tip will help.

All kinds of pens work very well in this class, even old-fashioned dip pens, or ball pens.
Stippling (next class) is very difficult / tiring without the technical pens. But unless you intend to draw regularly with P&I, I'd advice against purchasing the expensive technical pens. When unused for some time they will clog, even when reasonably thoroughly cleaned
