I love the harmony of a limited pallette and your knifework is amazing.

Before I sink into the big sleep, I want to hear, I want to hear, the scream of the butterfly. "When the Music's Over." The Doors.
C & C always welcome

Re: Vie Nocturne

I'd rather call it an "Oriental setting", the only thing what's missing is a snake charmer.

The painting isn't bad, but I don't understand why you painted the reflection on the left side of the painting that white and the other reflection on the right much darker (yellow/brown), while it rather should be the opposite.

I think, the painting would gain more presence by more carefully painting the reflections (with the palette knife).

BTW, I understand what you're saying about the galleries. If you want representation by a gallerie, only show them your best realistic still lifes, or you best impressionistic landscapes, or your best abstract paintings, or your best....Don't even mention you could paint cubist portraits and...

From what I've learned is a gallerie wants an artist to introduce as a realistic still life painter, or as a....not as someone who paints it all in different styles.

I am in that same boat, my still life paintings are represented by a gallerie, but they want nothing to do with my other (more free) work (not even realistic portraits).
I could introduce it to another gallerie, but I prefer to sell it myself (and at a more reasonable price than galleries do).

You know, in the past I even considered to sign my paintings with different names, a name for the realistic still life paintings, than another name for portraits, still another name for....aahh I'd probably need so many names that in the end I 'd not even regognize myself anymore.
And that's why I go on the way I do now...one name....many loads.

Anyway, I don't need the galleries and they surely won't dictate me how and what to paint, because today they tell me "make smaller works, they sell better", and tomorrow they tell me "make it lifesize, not bigger" and the list goes on... Oh no, not me!
