Like a freind, ...

This was just plain fun to paint. I think it may need a little more contrast, so never done, never done, never done, ...

Very pretty Patrick, it is maybe my imagination but is that a hint of a cat face top centre?

Re: Like a freind, ...

First, let me say the initial impression is of Impressionism
but
as to needing more contrast, what it needs is a consistent light source.
my eye sees highlights in places where shadows belong. each flower seems to be getting a different ray of light, even within the same flower it seems confused.
The colors are perfect, just adding white to the brightest edges, and sparingly using a shadow wash where the sun don't shine as brightly may make these pop.
just a suggestion, I am no expert.

Thnx everyone, and yes, about those pesky cats, ...
Whatever shall I do?
Light sourse:
Good point Birdhouse, lunminesense could be a nice goal, I think if I were to put a soft light smack in the middle of the painting, between the fore-rose and the b.g. rose, that might help the cause.
