Almost finished!

Hello all! This is my latest painting done on a 12 x 16 in. panel. For this painting I used raw umber, burnt umber, burnt sienna, venetian red, cadmiun orange, yellow ochre, lead tin yellow, indian yellow, viridian, ultramarine blue, van dyck brown, and flemish white.

Comments and critiques are welcome. Thanks for looking!!!

I like the troupe l'ceil effect with the picture on the wall. The cube definitely needs more work. The drawing is twisted and the spaces between the cubes are not convincing.

Re: Almost finished!

I love this, your paintings are fun! The cube is slightly distorted, but that's it.

Thats a lot of colors I think a similar thing could be done with less palate. But then I for myself always ascribe to KISS, (keep it simple stupid).

Re: Almost finished!

Thank you, Traffic NYC! So honored to know you´ve liked it!

You´re right, ptrkgmc, something similar can be done with less colors. I used lead tin yellow and indian yellow as one color combination to replace a cadmiun yellow light which is a brighter more saturated color. For orange I used cadmiun orange..I could have mixed my yellows with my reds but I wanted it a brighter orange. Green can also be mixed but prefered to use viridian and then I also needed a touch of ultramarine blue.

Re: Almost finished!

I agree with the need to straighten out the cube, but that shouldn't be hard. I love it! I love your color work too - you really know how to use your paints to create a lovely glow. I appreciated hearing about your thought process as you selected your paints.
