Can someone clarify some issues.
I posted this elsewhere but this might be a better place.
I’ve been asked if i can paint a portrait of a political figure,(now deceased). my concern is that to paint it id have to use reference photos, all by other people I guess.
There are public domain photos available but im not clear what those allow or not.
i could change a pose or angle but Im not sure if i could pull this off and keep a likeness of someone ive not met. I have done work from photos in the past but usually base it on one reference photo. I’m not sure if I can do that here.
Also, are there any legal issues in painting a portrait of a political figure? it should be complimentary.
Thanks
