This is a painting I had started some time ago – It has been a difficult one to stay with; but I decided this week it was time to wrap it up – I finished it a short time ago; thus want to share with you –
The scene is Charlotte’s and my favorite spot in the Beartooth Mountains; each year when Summer was in full swing we would make our pilgrimage to visit the old Whitebark Pine, which we called “Ancient One” – These trees are the oldest living form in the mountains; they can live up to 1000 years – Too, they are the only tree that can live at this elevation ( we are just over 10,000 feet where this tree lives ) -We would spend the entire day taking in all that Nature has to offer here; never tiring from the effort required –
This past October Charlotte and I made our final pilgrimage to the old pine; I placed her ashes beside “Ancient One” – She will now reside forever in the place she so dearly loved; always able to view these incredible mountains –
I hope you enjoy the view –
Oil on panel, 14 x 18
Thank you – Hud
