Re: Mosaic artists

I really want to see this take off as a thriving mosaic forum. I haven't discovered one yet anywhere, and I came back to Wet Canvas convinced there had to be an active mosaic channel going. Alas!

I am about to cover a mid-century fiberglass-seated, wire-framed bench with mosaic. The fiberglass has to be re-invigorated one way or another, and I'd prefer mosaic to resurfacing in a more restoration vein- but I don't know if I can, for outdoor use, reasonably prepare an old fiberglass surface for mosaic.

It would seem reasonable, but I don't want to go to the expense of glass tile unless it really is.

Hi boobookat. I belong to several mosaic groups on flickr. They have very active mosaic groups going and I have learned a lot from the artists who post there.

There don't seem to be a lot of us on WC. Shawn- love your work!

Li

A few more: crab is about 2 feet across, turtle about 18" across, fish about the size of a large plate. Turtle has a lot of broken plates/tessa.

Re: Mosaic artists

Lovely work all around! I'm new on the site. Work in oils, abstracts and landscapes mainly but I make mosaics as well. This is a coffee table with a blue gradient. I would've made the transitions smoother had I more shades of blue at the time. I painted it white since the photo was taken and I couldn't be happier.

Re: Mosaic artists

Welcome to the forum Crocodile. Great job on the table. I love the color scheme mixing cools and just a few warms.

Re: Mosaic artists

Give it a try Trudi! Your fingers may get a wee bit chopped up but the results will be amazing.
