I’m having some health issues which makes it difficukt to be up and down from plate to press so I’ve started making some gel prints using plates made by Gel Press. I’m still playing but finding it quite liberating. I’ve attached one of my early small images (5″x7″ but I have a much larger plate still to use.) Registration can be a little hit or miss but since one characteristic seems to be rather soft edges that so far hasn’t been an issue.
One thing I’ve noticed however, looking at the numerous videos on Youtube etc, is that most people are using the process for things like scrapbooking, journalling etc, which to me are more craft oriented and not the way I want to go.
Does anyone know of, for want of a better phrase, fine artists working with this medium?

Google Helen Wells and/or Linda Germain. Also there is a Facebook group (Gelatin Printmaking) that I’ve noticed but haven’t really checked out.
I’ve done some and love the serendipity of the process. Recently I actually bought the gelli plates but still prefer the wonky edges from my homemade plates.

Have fun experimenting.

From there I also found the work of another artist, Jane Davies whose videos are mainly about painting/collage but with a wonderfully free way of working.

I’ve now turned up a simple jig which will make registration much easier and more precise. You can see it in use in this youtube video.

Thanks for sharing the video. Here’s another with a hinged method. [/SIZE]https://youtu.be/E6_qyrPHxgcStay inspired! MichelleAlways celebrate the small successes
