Question encaustic

I have run into an artist who used marble dust/chips as material for encaustic paintings. Anyone heard of this?

Re: encaustic

I use marbel dust on my paintings to give texture but I can see how it can be embossed in the molten wax.

Re: encaustic

Just a guess, but why not. It is inert, non reactive and can give a nice texture and even opacity. I use it in gesso all the time to get heavy impasto affects.

Sounds mighty interesting to me. Let us know how it works out, OK.
