Cool Papier Mache Head

This is a papier mache head.
Papier Mache is a composite of Paper paste + Glue + PVA Adhesive + Sawdust + Plaster of Paris + Linseed Oil + Water. The Frame is a plastic cup. The paint is Acrylic and a coat of Wood Varnish to finish it.

It is intended to be a Flower Vase / PenHolder with space on top.

I would like to have your experience if any in this new media.
I would also love to have your comments on the work.

Re: Papier Mache Head

What a delightful character He looks terrific.
I am interested in the additions of sawdust and linseed to the mix -haven't heard of that. What are the reasons for using them?

Re: Papier Mache Head

Definitely scarey eyes! Quite a character. Papier mache is fun - something I delve into occasionally in between painting projects.

Have a look at www.papiermache.co.uk

Lots of artists show their work and there are some helpful projects and ideas.

Re: Papier Mache Head

Hello Sonia and Drunmbeat-trish,
I am already a member in www.papiermache.co.uk in the name RAHUL; but thanks for the help. True papiermache is real fun I am also a painter but paiermache is a great diversion.
Drumbeat-trish I think this sawdust and linseed items are additions from an article I read in www.papiermache.co.uk. Sawdust actually dries the pulp a bit and linseed helps it pliable also the mix takes time to dry. Its important if you are using too much PVA adhesive.

Re: Papier Mache Head

Nice work. I liked your use of color, and the way you used the dramatic eyes as a focal point.

I liked the links that Sonia and Jakeally submitted. Thank you.
I am new here, so I hope that I am doing this right.

Here is a link for papier mache I thought you all might like
http://www.rozani.com/mache.htm

It is not my link, I just thought it had some good content. I like papier mache, and coming into this forum just might spur me on to creating something.
It is such an environmentally friendly project. Packing peanuts destined for the landfill become art...that is super!

Happy Creating to you all!
Shelly
