Scavenger Hunt #587: May 12 - May 20

If you've participated in at least one Scavenger Hunt and have time to host one we would really appreciate it. You can sign up by posting your name on the current hosting schedule in the Art From Life forum here:
http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=366347

Here are the rules for the hunt:

*All items on the list must be sketched from life - not imagination or photo reference.

*Each object you draw can count for only one item on the list, no matter how many shapes/parts/colors that object contains. This was agreed on by unanimous vote among the participants.

*You may place multiple objects together in a drawing or painting, and may count these objects as separate items, but no single object can count for more than one item.

*All items posted must be numbered. Count them as you go. The first item you post will be #1 regardless of its place on the list. Do them in whatever order you wish, but count them in the order in which you sketch them, from 1 to 26.

Do as many or as few of the items as you like. You don't have to finish the entire list to participate. The Scavenger Hunt "week" will last for 9 days, with the next hunt starting on the 9th day.

Please tell us your size, surface, medium, and the amount of time it took you for each sketch. We love hearing about your subjects and setups. Photos of your subjects are welcome.

*** If you have some hunt sketches completed but little time to read/comment, please post your sketches anyways. Commenting is appreciated but not necessary. ***

Ai, thanks. And you are first! The horses are great. Jeroen is a J, too. I'm sure there are others. Happy you are on a holiday.

I hope to sketch. We are having lunch with our adult kiddos today. Should be nice. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and a great day for the rest of you.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms who take part here!!!

Jo, thanks for the new (recycled) "j" list. Cute little jumping chick. Blueberry jam is my favorite...or maybe raspberry...depends on what is in front of me. lol

Ai, how fun that the cafe is decorated with ponies. Nice sketches!

Re: Scavenger Hunt #587: May 12 - May 20

Joan and Jo: Thanks.

Jo: I think Gene likes the same Jam with Tone...Great cute sketch of the Chick

I finally get to sketch one of the majestic tree, in front of our rental condo by the beach town...I did not do the justice but I am happy that I had a simple moment with this tree...

#3 Juniper -- a Thai kind of grand tree called "Ma-Kha" ... for some reason it reminds me of American Oak tree..

Joan, thanks. Gene's second favorite is grape. Probably from when he was a kid, he likes it on bologna sandwiches. Go figure...

Ai, thanks. Your tree is beautiful and is similar in shape to the oaks. Lovely.

Ai, what great finds. The radio is a joy and well done! I like that you found a jetty, too. I thought Joan might be the only one to do that. Fun!!

I sketched on the porch on my iPad with Brushes, fingers and apple pencil. I try not to use the undo button very much. This took over an hour. Pastels would have been about 15 minutes!

Number 3, July, summer item - the plethora of green in our summer world. Not much color besides green which can be boring.

Al, lovely work on that twisty tree! That Chevy radio is so fun!!! No wonder you had such a hard time deciding what to sketch. And you did the jug there too. Nice big rocks to sketch at the beach.

Jo, grape jelly and bologna??? lol Not for me. Good job on the iPad summer scene. It definitely doesn't feel like summer or spring here. It is downright cold and damp here yesterday and today. I am walking around with a sweater on.

1 - jeep - brush pen & watercolors
2 - gear shift - brush pen & watercolors
Jo knew I would sketch one...
3 - jetty - watercolors and ink

Thanks Jo and Joan for your kind comments.

Jo: Nice green landscape

Joan: Lovely Jeep...and jetty. I like the way you shade and give the round feels to the rocks.

#7 Jupiter -- well this was a replica of a Tyrannosaurus or TRex as an attraction at a Thai gas station en route Bangkok from our vacation town. I did his tail too short but I have a spiral bound sketchbook and did not want to do a double page over the spiral. So he came out a bit uneven... Anyway, he reminds me of our planet millions years ago. There were several more of the dino. replica there but we had to move on for coming back to Bangkok. I hope to sketch the others next trip.

Ai, great find and idea with the dinosaur. Good drawing.

Joan, I figured you would find a jetty. Oh, and a Jeep. I sketched Larry’s Jeep but are in Austin for Gene’s DBS which went well. Will be home this evening.

Hi to all, more later.
