Re: Digital Manipulation Challenge VI, Live Oak Tree

Wonderful photo to start with, Rich.

And some excellent, creative, artistic takes on it.

Here's one that started with HDR Efex Pro (mainly to brighten it), then Photoshop Channel Mixer (to change to a golden autumn-like scene), and ending with a FotoSketcher watercolor effect on which I used a layer mask restore some details (mostly in the trunk, thicker branches, and some parts of the tree's shadow) that were lost after the earlier steps.

Re: Digital Manipulation Challenge VI, Live Oak Tree

Thank you very much for the superlatives. I used the new Affinity Software to create the face, the moon, the highlights on the tree. I used Topaz Studio initially to create the abstract liquefied look of the branches and Lightroom to DARKEN the overall scene.

Dave,
Good one, Dave. Nice autumn look and feel to it with all the golds and browns. I like the softness you created too.

Some quick "playing around" this morning. I hope to find time to really play with it more. This is a line and ink filter in Topaz, with some work on the sky to add a little color... clouds painted in after the fact.

Seeing the photo of this tree reminded me of one I visited in Texas that was purported to be at least 1000 years old. Incredible they can live so long.

I like it Don. I have used the line and ink in Topaz and it does come up with some good looking images. Good work on the clouds.

This tree is in Brookgreen Gardens near Myrtle Beach, SC. It is 9000 acres and has 1445 sculptures and other sights. Here is a link to info.

A very nice tree and setting and a bunch of wonderfully creative manipulations.

Special hurrahs to Lorell for her version "The Lonely Tree"..

Here is my version using Topaz Studio.

I have another for you but I don't know how long it will last with the heat wave going across the country. Another day of 90 degrees here in our city, but not on my screen.

WOW! I missed this one completely. I must have been on hiatus or something. Very good manipulations, here! I cannot pick a favorite!
Thanks, Dan, for bringing this one back up and adding such a nice one to it!.

Awesome Dan! I like the touch of color on the added tree. The girl in the swing is wonderful, highlights and shadows work well with the original image! A lot going on here, great place to hang out!
