Yes, one certainly has to say that this was a fantastic image to use as a starter point for manipulations. Congrats to all - certainly an impressive collection of outcomes.

Its more like "what software didn't I use Lorell

Here is a screen shot of the Photoshop CS2 PSD file:

I decided to try a painterly version. First I used my Art History Brush method to generate a water colour look (bottom 4 layers). Selectively added a pen and ink version as a soft light group and a multiply layer to give more definition to some of the lines/details. I shifted the colours in Topaz Restyle. I then did a DAP (Dynamic Auto Painter) conversion to the result because I wanted more evidence of brush strokes. I then decided that I preferred less brush strokes in the water, but liked the sky, so I blended to get a result. I then added a pen & ink multiply layer again to improve details. An Emboss filter - multiply was used to add the paint texture, but this darkened the image too much and so a brightness contrast layer was applied to brighten the result. The result was then selectively sharpened. Finally the image was lightened and some vignette added in the final layer.

You asked for it!

regards - Peter

wow! love the result, Peter!

thanks for the encouraging words... I put the boat in one of my acrylic paintings and fiddled with it using 12-year-old now defunct microsoft Picture-It Premium software

I agree - that's very nice work, Maria.

Not everyone would think of adding the tree reflections, and it was done well - looks perfectly realistic.

Your other two images are very well done, too.

The sunset version is perfectly believable. Good work and great reflections.

Maria,
I like this one a lot because of the vagueness about the forms. Everything just all melts together creating a very calming feeling. Excellent variation.

Nice one, Maria....I've always like images that look like this, reminds me of when I took a silkscreen class....(gee, wish I could have had this filter so I could have saved myself time when cutting films for the process!!)

Here is one I did today....Storm brewing!!!

Re: Photo Manip Challenge...January 2016...Old Fishin' Boat

Impressive work, Natalie. A new sky and trees, additional buildings, new water. It even looks like you've included a touch of aerial perspective by making sure that the distant new buildings are slightly subdued and softened, as they would be in these conditions of humidity and light. Very realistic and cohesive.

Outstanding composite, professionally done.
