Re: "the Trip"

Very interesting drawing... lot to take in! I hope he doesn't fall to the bottom like the other guy? I am keen to see where you go with this in colour and oils. Good luck! So far I like it. Cheers Debs. =))

The legs of the angel on the viewer's left appear inordinately long?

An ambitious drawing! Please keep us updated on your progress.

By Jupiter, you're right! I'll be changing that straight away. And I'm having a bit of an issue with the cherubs up top... They just don't seem to be in the "flow" of the thing.. Thanks for the nice comments too... The guy on the bottom and the one being raised up are the same person, at least they are supposed to be. haha.

Re: "the Trip"

There is a problem with your point of perspective in the drawing.

You need to determine where your eyeline is and then draft the figures accordingly

This was made more obvious reading that the bottom figure is the same as the figure being raised up. There is a real mix here, the Cherubs which you are having trouble with have heads larger than figures mid ground or at the bottom, which would indicated a top down view point, however the figure at the bottom has a head and body larger than the uplifted figure, which would indicate a bottom up view point....

Usually for this sort of image there is a bottom up view point taken to add to the grandeur and glory aspect of looking up to the heavens ( if you believe that sort of thing )

Is this supposed to be Jupiter? Jupiter was the guy with Lightning Bolts and Eagles.

Andrew

Man, Andrew good eye... I have to admit it took a bit of work for me to come to grips with what you were saying. But in the end I think the advice is quite sound. So wonderful to have the input of so many talented folks... And no, he's not Jupiter per se, but more of a Divine healer.

Indeed you're right. I noticed this as well but had already shot the photo so it'll have to wait until the next installment for correction. Thanks for commenting.

Re: "the Trip"

I guess it would depend on whether you were representing a Greek divine healer?

Mushrooms and a flying saucer?

Ok divine healer - give him some head hair, or his credibility is shot

Re: "the Trip"

Haha! So that's why Jesus always has such luxurious locks... and here I just thought he was a hippie. The caduceus I used more as a symbol for healing than as an identifier for the figure holding them... and the saucers and shrooms, well those are for a touch of ambiguity, "It was God!".. "No, it was aliens!" ... "No no, you're both wrong, it was the mushrooms."

Well, he is one of them, but I think their interest could be chalked up to simple benevolence. I suspect he needs them a hell of a lot more than they need him at the moment.

Re: "the Trip"

Well, I'm intrigued. It's the type of piece open to interpretation, as already indicated, and one that viewers will notice in any gallery. Guess I need to pull out some books but I thought "the gods" had long, white hair to match their beards. Looking forward to watching your progress on this one.
