Its part of the MS Messaging service, it has nothing to do with what browser you use. It only affects NT 4.o, 2000 and XP. Its the NetSend command that is used to brodcast a message over a network, for some reason M$ decided to leave it turned on so spamers have explooited it. Just shut it off as someone has explained and there will be no more problems.

I use the free version of Panicware's Popup Blocker too. It does an excellent job with my Internet Explorer and Windows 98.

I use Opera browser which allows me to easily block or accept pop-ups. Too difficult with Internet Explorer.

I vote for the Google toolbar, which has many handy features anyway. The popup blocker on it seems to work fine. You can also enable certain popups if you want them.

I use Mozilla with the pop-up blocking feature turned on - actually it's a check-box titled "Open unrequested windows". Mozilla has many other features not found in IE and a very nice integrated e-mail client.

One very nice feature is the ability to EASILY setup multiple profiles. Each user has their own browser settings, bookmarks, and e-mail client settings.

I highly recommend it as a replacement for IE.

Jim Coates from Star Ledger wrote an article on it as well as some people suggested here, So thank you.
