Snatch (WIP)

This piece is... labor intensive, to say the least XD. It's a 30cm by 35cm sized sculpture and it will take quite a bit before it's done and ready to cast. Everything is done in SS Firm (polymer clay).

This is the start of the with the mouth needing quite a bit of work before it's done. The ensnared guy obviously also needs to be fleshed out.

And this is the front. I had to do an in-between bake because the clay was starting to dry out badly. Downside of only being able to work 2/3 hours a day. So I removed the clay from the arms, finished the face and torso to a point where I'm able to work on it some more with fresh clay after baking and hoped for the best.

The ominous saw is what I'm using today. All octopus arms will be sawed off in preperation of molding. I figured it would be better to do this in this stage, instead of when the surface is completely textured, to limit the damage the saw will do.

NOES! What did I DO?

A behemoth like she was would have been impossible to cast, so I had to cut her to pieces. líll have to cut off the female body as well, but Iím waiting until Iíve got enough nerve.

All arms are still there, none of them have been damaged (well, you know, apart from the sawing), and they will be reattached after casting. It was hella nerve-wracking though! But Iím glad I did this now, and not when I had already added loads of detail.

WOW!! Although a lover of realistic things, I think this is an amazing piece, and shows all the time you put into it already. Did you think of this subject yourself, or copy the idea from somewhere?
