The world is a dark, drab place, but the child-like can still enjoy playing in it. Based on a photo I took last month.

Re: The World

A nice moody scene -- a drab world indeed. Tonalist paintings like this are usually done using blues and greens. Yours does the job well with a flood of unsaturated yellows. The bright saturated yellow figure is somewhat in danger of being pulled into the Yellow World. I suggest making the figure a bright electric blue (cool and saturated, like 1990s outdoors wear). The color contrast would make the figure stand out and make it clear that the figure is IN the scene but not OF it.

(I often paint my skies yellow, with all the power, brightness and energy that brings. I was shocked and pleased to see your use of yellow in a totally different way.)

Re: The World

This is what I was suggesting, only done a bit more subtly -- I painted this on an iPhone.
