Re: Stormy morning

The colors and contrast look so nice. Also the knife strokes look good. Bet that would look good hanging on the wall.

Re: Stormy morning

Hi Rob, actually I think it should have been a bigger painting to look good on the wall. Interesting how some works are great on a small scale while others need more room to expand within the canvas size. Many thanks for your encouraging word, much appreciated.

Re: Stormy morning

Bold strokes and thick paint - loads of movement and emotion in the stormy seascape. Lovely.

Re: Stormy morning

Many thanks Matthew I wish it was a bigger painting, maybe I could try it on a large canvas in the future.

Re: Stormy morning

Wonderful texture, spontaneity, color statement & plenty of movement all captured in those directional brushstrokes, Caroline - You certainly have an interesting & distinctive style - Well Rendered !

Re: Stormy morning

I think you have portrayed cold very well. Your painting is beautiful, and its odd because one Scottish painter that I very much like is Joan Eardley, and she went out when it was cold and stormy and painted much like you have. Beaut work.

Re: Stormy morning

Many thanks Michael, very much appreciated.

Hi Merriweather many thanks for visiting my thread. I have a book about Joan Eardley, she was a wonderful artist, such amazing skill. What interested me was that she painted these very dark seascapes within a storm yet there is very little light in them, yet they all work perfectly. No way am I as sophisticated a painter as Joan but I do my best swishing thick paint about!!

Beautifully juicy and sensual. There is even a suggestion of a figure to set
the whole thing off.
