Gary Odell kindly gave me permission to use his photograph as reference for these two. I wanted to experiment with deconstruction with the second. 12×16 and 9×12 oil. Wild horse Salt River Az. C&C welcome.

I think you are catching the spirit of the animal.

Ah, it’s so good to see Trailrider’s paintings again. I assure viewers that the actual scenery is nowhere near as attractive as the paintings. Perhaps if the artist doesn’t mind, it would be instructive to see an actual photo for comparison, even if its content does not quite match the composition?
