Harold, if you're referring to my comment about the group show, it wasn't a competition.
The gallery manager is a friend, who knew that I run a plein air group. She was interested in having a show that was based on a historical set of events in our area. She and I and a couple of others arranged the series at venues in her town related to the history bringing in about 40+ artists from 4 different groups. It was a very interesting concept, challenging in the best way more for the scheduling issues, and in one spot for having to coordinate with a federal park agency.
But most interesting was the juried show that resulted. How often do you get to see in one show the creative vision of so many artists on the same subjects, and get to hear from the artists themselves what they were trying to accomplish?
